Have you ever noticed that the monsters in horror movies are not just incredibly ugly and fearful, but also incredibly irrational? The are so aggressive as if they had no psychology.

Take for example a movie I’ve watched some time ago: Descent. There movie monsters live in caves and look like Gollum, boiled in geyser and wall-eyed. With desperate sqweal they attack everyone and everything indiscriminately. For example, a lonely monster with no doubt assaults five athletic women. Moreover, when the prey is dead, the monster continues chasing another. By the way, this hunting vehemens can easily lead you to death by hunger. Great ideas are similar to love. They come rarely, unpredictably and only to some people, just as love does.

And only worthy human can make great idea or great love happen. You must be really courageous to not get frightened by all things it demands from you: loyalty, selflessness, humility. You must be really strong and determined to bring an idea to life.

Once a beautiful as phoenix idea came to me. It was an idea of a scientific article. I started to write down the paper and soon realized that it was really hard. In order to write down the paper I had to visit a bunch of libraries to check out all the facts and numbers, recall all the citations, verify all the details. So I decided to make all this hard stuff a day after. Or, perhaps, two days after when I would have more time. But the day after and two days after I still did not have enough time. And only a month later I remembered my desicion to make a paper. But when I started to write, I realized that it is all over. The idea was gone. It even never let me possess it. What once was a pure charming beauty demanding to be written down immediately turned into obscure remembrances. This article was never written.

Idea and love do not wait until you will have more time and right mood. They just leave you. And if they not, things get even worse. Because in this case beautiful idea and love turn into ugly grumbling old hag. And who on the Earth coul be inspired by it?

Great ideas are as rare as great love for the same reason. One human is not enough to realize it. Somebody else have to get inspired by it and to join you in a task of bringing an idea or love into life. Moreover, he or she must be as worthy, corageous and strong, as you are. As well he or she must be ready to sacrifice everything for love or idea to take place.

And the last similarity between ideas and love is their suddenness. They do not come when you expect them. You cannot summonn them, no matter how hard you try. Therefore the only option is to be humble and to do what you have to. Be very attentive to what is going on around you: love or great idea can come to someone beside you. Because you can share love and idea with him or her.

Thanks to search engines Internet is being flooded by trash information. Let me explain how and why.

In order to be ranked by search engines a page must contain unique information. But this uniqueness is not of a semantical, but of a linguistical kind.  Search engine has no brain and is unable to figure out the sense of a text. It uses an algorithm looking for the key words and comparing those to other patterns already stored in engine’s database. This means that if you take any text and change 60% of the words into their synonyms, you will create a “unique” text, which will be devoured gladly by a search engine.

There are enormous tons of texts of this kind on the Internet. Moreover, there are also tons of texts saying same things on the same subjects, but only in a slightly different manner.

Additionally, in order to choose the position of any given page in the search results the search engines have to count how many links on the Internet point at that page. Therefore people create supporting garbage heaps: the links on the thousands of bulletin boards, read by noone; a description of the site in numerous catalogues, also read by noone due to excessive garbage percent.  And take a look at the hit of this garbage multiplication: a network of trash sites, linked to each other and to the main site.

You can have a lot of fun just by looking at the sites dedicated to SEO (search engine optimization). Here the trick is the same as in lots of pyramids. If you want to have lots of money, start teaching others how to make money. If you want to promote your site, start teaching others how to promote sites. The same is applicable to personal development, Forex etc. In any case a pyramid is created. On a top of it stands a small group of teachers, encouraging nubies to learn the secrets of the masters. They swear that these secrets are so simple, easy-to-learn and could be bought for not that much money. Surely, the freshly inspired nubies surge to the frontiers of money-making, SEO etc.  They deluge everything with the best trash they can produce in accordance to these “secrets”.

But let’s return from money-making back to SEO trash-producing strategies.

Best optimized sites of SEO just repeat in different terms and in different voice the same scarce pool of ideas.  No new information, just new words and a bit of SEO magic.

But I want to ask you: can this process be called an increase of information? Can we say that the knowledge on the Internet is growing? Internet turns fatter instead of bigger. It grows owing to addition of the same useless information, only in new words and types of expression. The volume of the meaning is remaining the same, but the volume of meaning-bearers is growing.

I hope that all this trash will eventually die out in a natural way. But this direction of development of Internet, where search engines decide which content is unique,  is pervert. This kind of developement leads us to a bad place. I don’t even want to name it, as it is obvious.

That is why I deem a scientific way of knowledge growth to be more natural and effective.  At least the content of scientific texts is created for and tested by human beings. And it is hard to deceive human by using synonyms and changing the order of the words.

It looks like there is an invisible link between these mice from Krakow and Lisbon. They look for each other through time and space and are ready to send a wink to each other.

Есть такая трудная проблема: если Бог есть Любовь, как же он тогда может создать Ад, в котором будут мучится грешники на том свете после Страшного Суда? Разве любовь может привести человека к страданиям, “плачу и скрежету зубов”? И я скажу: да, очень даже может.

Кто любил по-настоящему (например, своего ребёнка), тот знает, отчего это бывает — боль любимого человека куда мучительней переживаешь, чем свою собственную.

Хуже всего, когда эту боль причинил ты сам.

И совсем ад, когда исправить ничего невозможно.

Говорят, что женщины, бросающие своих детей или делающие аборты, идут против природы. А женщины, жертвующие собственным здоровьем ради ребёнка, выхаживающие больных детей и просто тратящие лучшие годы на детей — не делают ничего особенного. Дескать, даже неразумные животные вскармливают своё потомство, кошка и та не бросает котят. Якобы природой заложена в матерей готовность жертововать ради потомства всем, даже жизнью. Увы, кто так говорит, тот просто мало знает. Недавние исследования поведения животных показывают совершенно другие вещи.

Смерть туристов на горе Холат-Сяхл февральской ночью 1959 года цепляет разум своей таинственностью. В самом деле: пошли в поход подготовленные, опытные туристы со всем снаряжением. Пошли зимой и не в самое лучшее место: на языке манси оно означает “гора мертвецов”. А через месяц были обнаружены окоченевшие тела туристов: раздетые, со странными травмами и повышенным уровнем радиации, вдали от палатки, которую разрезали изнутри.

Почему они разрезали палатку, почему выбежали в одном белье, отчего погибли, почему у некоторых трупов странный фиолетовый оттенок, кто вырезал язык одной из туристок, окуда радиация? Read the rest of this entry

В очередной раз я победила железный разум. На этот раз это был VNC-viewer, отказавшийся понимать клаву. Порычала на него как следует, поизвращалась в попытках писать в командной строке с помощью мыши, понажимала все кнопкосочетания, пока не дошла до искомого. Всё-таки меня каждый раз удивляет этот загадочный факт: если долго долбаться, то всё получится. В моё миропредставление это как-то не вписывается. Вот как и почему это работает? Что за таинственная связь человека и мира?

Вот кстати. Был такой проект PEAR (The Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research). Исследовалось воздействие человека на механизмы, физические процессы и т.п.. Например, сажали человека перед генератором случайных чисел (1 и 0), и мотивировали “хотеть”, чтобы чаще выпадало одно число, а не другое. Результат: выяснилось, что частота выпадения “желаемого” числа в несколько раз выше статистической погрешности. То есть человек может одним волевым намерением воздействовать на мир. Почему? Неизвестно. В текущую научную парадигму такие вещи не вписываются.

Что интересно, наши физики проделывали похожее, ставя чистый эксперимент над так называемыми паранормальными способностями. Это ведь и есть научный подход: проверять, а не отвергать из “общих соображений”. Правда, это не был проект таких масштабов, как PEAR, а делалось на энтузиазме небольшой группы физиков, решивших выяснить с помощью эксперимента, насколько экстрасенсы способны воздействовать на мир. Где-то дома у меня завалялась книжка “Физики в парапсихологии” (М., Летний сад, 2003), где описана постановка и результаты тех экспериментов. Вердикт такой: люди действительно способны волевым усилием воздействовать на материю (живую и мёртвую). Например, защищать подопытных животных от воздействия радиации. Но как это происходит — непонятно. Объяснить в рамках текущей парадигмы невозможно.

К чему я это всё? А вот к чему: ужасно хочется дожить до момента, когда будет сформулирована новая парадигма. Такая, в которой станет совершенно ясно, как же так человек воздействует волей на мир. Представляете, какие возможности это открыло бы? Да что там возможности — само новое миропредставление, начисто отметающее предыдущие представления о дуализме духовного и материального, было бы невероятно интересно примерить на нашу реальность. Увидеть мир совершенно иным образом. Не “интуитивно догадываться”, что если сильно хотеть, то получится, а точно знать, как же это работает.
